Apple is “absolutely” working on a new iPad Mini, so what’s new?
Processor and Performance

Apple is reportedly developing the 8th-generation iPad mini, codenamed J510/J511, which will feature the A19 Pro chip, according to MacRumors and leaked Apple code.
Apple introduced the A19 Pro chip last month at the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air event.
The iPad mini 8 is expected to use the same A19 Pro chip as the iPhone Air, built on Apple’s new 3-nanometer process. The A19 Pro’s GPU features an upgraded architecture with a larger cache, more memory, and Neural Accelerators for Apple Intelligence.
Apple claims it delivers three times the peak GPU compute performance of the previous generation, thanks to its upgraded 16-core Neural Engine.
Display

Rumors suggest Apple is planning to use OLED displays across its upcoming iPad lineup.
A Chinese leaker with supply chain access claims Apple has evaluated a Samsung-made OLED display for the next iPad mini. However, it’s not yet clear whether this model will support a refresh rate higher than the 60Hz LCD found in the iPad mini 7.
Another rumor points to a possible display size increase for the iPad mini 8, from 8.3 inches to 8.7 inches.
When?

Reports from ET News and ZDNET in Korea indicate that both the iPad Air and iPad mini are slated to debut with OLED displays in 2026.
Back in May 2024, it was revealed that Samsung had started developing sample OLED panels for future iPad minis, with mass production reportedly on the horizon. That same report suggested Apple aims to introduce OLED displays to both the iPad Air and iPad mini lineups in 2026.
An 8.5-inch OLED iPad mini is expected in 2026, with larger 11-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Air models rumored to land in 2027.
Pricing

Rumors suggest the iPad mini could be priced at $499.99 or $329.99.
There’s still uncertainty surrounding the release of an 8th-generation iPad Mini, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is 'absolutely' sure that Apple has a new iPad Mini in the works.
