A day after Apple removed ICEBlock from its App Store, Google confirmed to 404 Media that it also took down the ICE Spotting App Red Dot from the Google Play store.
ICEBlock and Red Dot both enabled users to report sightings of ICE agents and view nearby activity reports. According to Red Dot’s website, the app combined user submissions with “verified reports from multiple trusted sources” to track ICE operations.
Google told 404 Media it had not received any advance notice from the DOJ, but said it “bans apps with a high risk of abuse” and enforces content moderation for apps containing user-generated content.
