The new Windows OneDrive app from Microsoft is getting a major overhaul. The update brings a redesigned photo gallery, “faces”, and AI-powered slideshows, along with new editing features.

Microsoft is also introducing a local photos option. This will let users access and edit images stored on their device or a NAS, all within the OneDrive app, eliminating the need to upload everything to the cloud.
AI integration is another key focus. Subscribers to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Premium will be able to describe desired edits, and Copilot will handle the rest—plus, it can automatically generate albums and slideshows using your images.

On the mobile side, OneDrive for iOS and Android is set to receive AI editing soon. The app will help clean up blurry or duplicate photos, and the new moments tab—rolling out now—will surface memories and “on this day” highlights.
